A close-up of the Denes

I have posted a few pictures of the Denes over the last year or so as it was being built but now that it is finished I am able to walk around and take some close-up shots. I took this one to show the nice, if not very original, combination of brickwork, rendering, railings and window frames. Sadly these fine features are let down by the large expanse of wood in the middle of the building. These are the doors to, I presume, store rooms (there is separate storage for bins and bicycles). The wood is far too bright for the rest of the building and your eye is really drawn to the doors as you approach the building, rather than to the nice detail elese where or even to the entrance. The wood used across the top of the doors is far nicer.

The Denes is now finished

The Denes in Craig Road has taken quite a while to finish but it is finally there apart from some minor works. Many of the flats in the block behind these town-houses are now occupied.

The sales office for The Denes in Craig Road has moved into one of the flats which means that you can now get access to the site. This is the back of the town houses at the front of the site. They look more or less complete though there is much work going on elsewhere on the site.

Affordable housing at The Denes

This sign has recently appeared at The Denes in Craig Road advertising the affordable housing that is included in the development. Shame about the spurious word "no" in the phrase "16 no new 1 & 2 bed apartments".

The Denes

The Denes in Craig Road is starting to take shape. The building at the front is a row of town houses which, for some reason, got planning permission separately even though they must have been in the plan from the beginning. The building behind, the brickwork about half way up the picture, is the two blocks of flats at the back of the development. I don't know yet if they have got planning permission for the addition of a third floor where they want to put two penthouses. The roof in the background belongs to the fairly new mansion on the south-east side of Ham Common. The owners there must be less than impressed by the prospect of being overlooked by the new penthouses.

The Denes

Properties in this new development in Craig Road are now for sale, with 30% already sold from plan.

The developer describes the Denes as, "a stunning development of 1 and 2 bedroom apartments and 3 bedroom luxury penthouses with a later phase of 3 bedroom houses."

The prices range from £240k for a 1 bedroom flat to £450k for 3 bedrooms.

This used to be Craig House, an old people's home in Craig Road, but soon it will be the Denes, "a select collection of contemporary apartments and townhouses, where you can enjoy the quiet life only 10 miles from central London and within easy reach of Richmond and Kingston. "
