Resurfacing Ashburnham Road

Ashburnham Road is being resurfaced. At the Ham Street end the most obvious sign of this is the repainted white lines, at least that is what I noticed first when walking down Back Lane.

Further down the road the work was still in progress, though not actually in progress at the moment this was taken.

  1. I lived at 37 Ashburnham Road and they Newman House. They were council properties then. I am talking about the 1950's to 70's when I lived in Ham. I used to walk along Ashburnham Road a lot to get to Greycourt School or the shops. I remember the bus stops to. When I was a very young child we did not have buses in Ham, we had to walk to the top of Ham Common and just get bus number 65. The bus used to go to Chessington Zoo then. We went there quite often. Best wishes Lesley. I am in Bournemouth now.
