As a general, and possibly unfair, rule the front gardens in Wates Estate are pretty boring and they often consist of little more than a small square lawn so it is nice to see somebody do something different. Other gardens in the area have gravel, pebbles and stones but not usually arranged as interestingly as this.
Ham Photos is a growing archive of photos of Ham (at the meeting of Richmond upon Thames and Kingston upon Thames in south-west London), where I have lived since 1996. It captures the small changes that are easily missed and delights in the unusual, the unexpected and the unnoticed.

Thanks so much for your comments. This is our garden, which I designed myself, and which was laid by a local firm. It replaced a very poor quality lawn and some shrubs that were well past their best. It's influenced by Japanese stone gardens. We're thrilled with how it turned out and I've seen a lot of local families with young stop to look at it.
