The Ham end of Teddington Footbridge has had barriers firmly installed on both sides.
My guess is that this is to stop people from jumping off though there are already spikes to do that and there are no barriers on the more dangerous Teddington end where I have seen people jumping in to the river from in the recent heatwave.
