A defining feature of Wates Estate is that there are no borders (walls or fences) to the front gardens which adds to the lovely open and landscaped feel to the whole area. It is surprising, therefore, both that somebody wanted to spoil this a little by errecting a fence and also that they have been allowed to do so.
