Ham Photos is a growing archive of photos of Ham (at the meeting of Richmond upon Thames and Kingston upon Thames in south-west London), where I have lived since 1996. It captures the small changes that are easily missed and delights in the unusual, the unexpected and the unnoticed.

A feast of scaffolding
As scaffolding goes, this is a great example due to the density of the vertical poles combined with the other lines created by the bridge, trees, fencing and barrier. It is a wonderfully busy picture.
Many years ago my husband was driving into Kingston with our daughter when he noticed someone carrying scaffolding, his immediate comment was “oh look, new scaffolding”! Daughter’s response was “I don’t believe it” the incident has passed into family folklore. Both husband and I can see the beauty in scaffolding, in the shape of the structures, now that any work above ground level requires scaffolding instead of a ladder there are plenty of examples locally to observe.
